HKUST-1 (Cu-BTC)
HKUST-1 is a copper-based MOF formed by the coordination of Cu²⁺ ions with benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate (BTC) linkers. It is well known for its large surface area and metal active sites which contributes to its high adsorption capacity for small gases . The material typically appears as a blue crystalline powder.

- Gas Adsorption and Storage: Efficient uptake of CO₂ CH₄ and H2
- Catalysis: Oxidation and hydrogenation reactions
- Gas Separation: Selective CO2 adsorption: CO₂/CH₄ and CO₂/N₂ separation. Water harvesting applications.
